[half]The German-British Forum (GBF) was established in 1995 as a grouping to reinforce pivotal political and business relationships as well as education and social exchanges between Germany and Great Britain.

From its inception it has been supported by prominent politicians and leaders from finance and industry to help ensure that common interests of trade, business dialogue and economic growth are at the centre of European debate. Its purpose is to encourage cooperation between the two countries by bringing together a network of independent and practically-minded individuals.

[half_last]As such the GBF has become a fulcrum for economic, political, commercial and cultural links between the two countries. It counts among its successes:

  • Active engagement from some well-known figures in British-German relations including its President, Lord Hurd; honorary Chairman, Professor William Paterson, OBE; past Chairman, Lord Peter Mandelson, co-founders David Marsh CBE and Robert Bischof, who is the current Chairman, and previous chairman Dr. Stefan Georg.
  • The GBF Annual Conference, which has hosted events for high ranking business people and politicians in the two countries for nearly 20-years and has hosted high-profile speakers such as Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, Helmut Schmidt, Gerhard Schröder, George Soros, Alistair Darling, Helmut Schlesinger, David Simon and Kenneth Clarke.
  • Its Management Board which comprises a core network of senior business and financial representatives motivated by the common interest of promoting dialogue and exchange between the two countries within a European and international context.
